Every Student Scholarship

At the heart of First Position, we believe that no child should ever be unable to participate in the School of the Arts (SOTA) program because of financial circumstances. The Every Student Scholarship Program was created to help make this belief a reality by providing financial assistance to families who may otherwise be unable to participate.

Through the generosity of our incredible donors, we are able to provide opportunities for young dancers who may otherwise be unable to participate. Our goal is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to experience the joy of dancing for the Lord, regardless of their financial circumstances.

These scholarships open the door to a transformative journey—one where students can grow not only in their technical dance abilities, but also in their faith, confidence, character, and sense of belonging. We are grateful to be able to come alongside families and help make this experience possible.

Scholarship Information

Scholarship Overview

Our goal through the Every Student Scholarship Program is to help make the SOTA experience accessible to families who may be facing financial challenges. Through the generosity of our donors, we are able to offer partial tuition scholarships to selected students for the upcoming dance year.

Scholarship awards are a set amount and will be applied directly toward the student’s SOTA tuition. Because scholarship funds are limited, we are unable to guarantee that every applicant will receive a scholarship or that the scholarship will cover the full cost of tuition. Applications will be carefully reviewed based on financial need, available funding, and the eligibility requirements outlined below.

Please note: Scholarship awards cover tuition only. Families receiving a scholarship are still responsible for the $75 Membership & Registration Fee and $50 Costume Deposit. We understand that these additional expenses may still be a challenge, so payment arrangements for these fees can be discussed and, when possible, broken into manageable monthly payments.

Our heart behind this program is to help remove financial barriers so that more young dancers have the opportunity to experience the full SOTA program—growing not only in their dance technique, but also in their faith, confidence, character, and leadership.

The SOTA Experience Includes:

  • Dance Training — Instruction in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and other dance styles.

  • Discipleship Training — Opportunities to grow in faith, character, leadership, and spiritual maturity.

  • Mentorship — Encouragement and guidance from experienced dance instructors and community leaders.

  • Performance Opportunities — The opportunity to participate in our Spring Performance at the end of the dance season.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for a Tuition Scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Age Requirement: Applicants must be between the ages of 3-18.

  2. Commitment: Applicants must be willing to make a full-year commitment to the SOTA program, including regular attendance and participation in dance classes, rehearsals, performances, and discipleship sessions.

  3. Financial Need: Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a financial need for scholarship assistance. Please note that even recipients of a full tuition scholarship will still be responsible for the Membership & Registration Fee and Costume Deposit. We understand that these additional costs may still be a challenge for some families, so payment arrangements can be discussed and, when possible, broken into smaller monthly payments to make them more manageable.

  4. Character and Faith: Applicants should demonstrate strong character, including honesty, humility, responsibility, and a genuine desire to grow in their faith and relationship with the Lord.

  5. Letter of Recommendation: Applicants must provide a letter of recommendation from a church leader, mentor, or close friend who can speak to the character of the applicant and their family, as well as the student’s desire and commitment to being part of the SOTA program.
